Dr. Nair provides highly quantitative technical services and supervisory and project management support in diverse areas of engineering and science. Technical services include developing decision support software; evaluating the risks of contacting diseases and mortality from exposure to pollutants; estimating risks to ecological species such as plants and fish as a result of exposure to harmful chemicals and human activities; solving contaminant transport problems in air, groundwater, and surface water; and estimating exposures of humans to pollutants. He has developed and applied several mathematical models based on finite element, finite difference, Monte Carlo, and Markov Chain methods that span several areas of expertise including hydrology and hydrogeology, atmospheric science, transport phenomena, atmospheric chemistry, radiation health physics, thermodynamics, and probability theory. He possesses extensive programming skills and is currently involved in developing .Net-based Windows and web applications and Apache/php-based web applications that provide database, analysis, report preparation, and summarization support.
